Celebration of Light at the Little House

It was a festive night on Thursday, December 6th. All the toddlers from the little house put on a lighting ceremony to celebrate the lights that fill our lives the most – the stars, the moon, and the sun. Songs were sung, artwork was displayed, treats were consumed, and fun was had by all!

At the end of the night, Carolyn Brown – a talented musician and music therapist who comes to the little house once a week to sing songs and play guitar for the children – played a few songs for both the parents and kids. Here is one of the songs she sang:

UP BY THE NORTH POLE

(sung to tune “Down By The Bay”)

arranged by Carolyn Brown

Up by the North Pole

Where the icebergs flow

Back to my igloo

I dare not go

For if I do

My mother will say

Did you ever see a polar bear

Wearing curlers in his hair

Up by the north pole

Up by the north pole

Where the icebergs flow

Back to my igloo

I dare not go

For if I do

My mother will say

Did you ever see a walrus

Waiting for the school bus

Up by the north pole

Up by the north pole

Where the icebergs flow

Back to my igloo

I dare not go

For if I do

My mother will say

Did you ever see a snow bunny

Telling jokes and being funny

Up by the north pole

(additional versus)

– did you ever see a snow fox sleeping in a big box

– did you ever see the eskimos giving kisses with their nose

– did you ever see a snowman riding in a minivan

– did you ever see a big moose drinking lots of orange juice

– did you ever see a reindeer there wearing red long underwear

Susan’s Christmas cookies for the event were delicious and colorful too. Sugar cookies are the perfect treat for kids AND adults and kids just love decorating them. Here’s a SUGAR COOKIE recipe you may want to try via Martha Stewart:

Just a friendly reminder, In a Child’s Path will be closed from December 17th through January 1st.
