This morning Cam and Riley had a wonderful idea. Could they make a zoo at school? Anke’s answer was a definite yes! Out came the blocks. Out came the animals. They worked together to build climbing structures and separate areas for the animals. They grouped the animals into families and categories of different types of animals. Maddy joined in at the zoo and added her own flair to the project. After a little while, all three moved to the writing center to practice their writing skills.
Riley took breaks from her work to greet her friends as they arrived at school. Each friend chose an activity as they arrived. Ella O. and Bronwen worked in the art room, while Anthony worked with the blocks, then the magnets. Dean helped out when he arrived by feeding Rosie the bunny.
Out in front, Maddy, Alex, and Bronwen ran straight for the slide. Anthony did some running of his own, then tried out some silly walking—he was even walking backwards!! Ben and Riley were feeling silly too, so they started jumping together with Cecy. Cameron, Cole, and Ella weren’t feeling as silly, so they chose to act out the story of Snow White. Cameron and Cole were both princes in their version of the story, while Ella was Snow White.
The bike path was the next destination for Dean who was working hard being a dump truck. Cameron, Cole, and Ella grabbed the big balls and bounced along the bike path. Maddy joined the group as they went to a festival. After thoroughly enjoying the festival, they went to the store to get more supplies for their adventures.
In the back, the sandbox was full of hard workers, building and cooking, and having a great time! Cameron, Cole, Dean, and Collin were building amazing structures, knocking them down, then re-building. Each time they experimented with slightly different kinds of buildings.
The back deck was a busy place for our artists. Ben, Alex, Bronwen, and Riley were at the big easel. They also couldn’t resist getting into some water pouring. Maddy and Ava were nearby working at the hot glue station. They decided to construct some bridges with their supplies. Anthony and Ella had a ball painting with cars! They rolled the cars’ wheels through the smooth paint, then rolled amazing patterns out on their papers. Ella O. joined in the painting, then added cutting to her work as well.
Today was also Ava’s birthday! The children worked together to make enough tasty muffins for each friend to have one. Before eating the muffins, the group sang a beautiful rendition of ‘Happy Birthday’ and watched with delight as Ava blew out her candle!
Have a wonderful evening!
