Here at In a Child’s Path we enjoy art! A really fun way to paint is with a helmet. Once the child has the helmet on they use the large motor skills of their head and neck to get the paint from the cup onto the brush and to the paper. As the child paints they discover that moving their head creates a line of paint. A unique lesson in cause and effect has the cognitive part of their brain hard at work. Helmet painting usually draws a large crowd which encourages cooperation as well as taking turns. Besides painting on paper, we also like to use the helmets to paint on our easel outside.
