Journal 6-1-12

This morning Nerissa and Isabella kicked their morning off at the writing center. They girls informed Anke that they were making “beautiful things.” Lewis grabbed the basket of magnetic shapes and utilized them to create a tow truck which was towed by his helicopter. While Lewis was playing he told Anke, “A long, long time ago a ship sank into the deep, deep water. Ships do do that.”

While Lewis was telling Anke all about ships Kaito and Nerissa squished, kneaded and flattened green and blue play dough and Reed busied himself at the table piecing together puzzles.  On the black rug, Aiden, Kaito and Lewis built a carwash. The trio poured ketchup and mustard on the cars before sending them through the wash. In the art room, Rachel painted and whistled while she worked.

In the front Maddy made ice cream to sell to her friends. Cameron decided to give her a hand while Ariel, Mila, Eliana and Nerissa took turns going down the slide. Reed, Rachel and Zach became a family of penguins. The funny bird family waddled together everywhere. Eventually, the family made their way to the bike path and drew pictures with the sidewalk chalk. Aiden and Kaito holed up in the black tube while Lewis and Cam stacked the big balls on the slide and took turns sliding down and giggling as the balls flew everywhere.

In the back, everyone piled into the sandbox when they noticed the new sand. The kids took their shoes and socks off and enjoyed the new sand barefoot. On the deck, Ariel, Kaito, Mila and Rock painted with watercolor while Rachel, Nerissa, Reed and Eliana played in shaving cream and water.

Have a good night!
